Dear partners in ministry,

Here is what God did in Guam and Micronesia during the second quarter of 2025.

Six Students, Their First Trip to Korea

From June 4 to 10, I traveled to Korea with six HisPlan Movement students. It was the first overseas trip for every one of them, and the preparation was not easy. The students took their first-ever part-time jobs to pay for their own plane tickets, and in Guam, where there is no public transportation, even getting to work was a challenge. Four of the six had to get a passport for the first time. Because a school-affiliated group was traveling abroad, every administrative step was a hurdle.

By God’s grace, we made it to Korea. Ulsan Sarang Mission Church supported us warmly, and the students wore hanbok to walk through Gyeongbokgung, and explored Insadong and Myeongdong, experiencing Korean culture for the first time. They sang a special number at The Sent Conference and visited Ulsan and Busan. Most of all, worshiping alongside young people their own age in Korea left a deep impression and a vision for missions in their hearts.

Now that they are back in Guam, I hope they will serve campus worship more faithfully and pass on the love they received.

Children Waiting at the Shore

From June 26 to July 1, I went to Chuuk with four young adults from Nameless in Korea. We changed planes twice, Incheon to Guam and Guam to Chuuk, and then rode a motorboat. It was a rough journey, but the moment I saw the children who had come out to the landing to wait for us, all the effort was forgotten.

We ran children’s and youth programs at four churches on the small island of Tonoas (Nukuno, RMCC, Nukan and Nechichi). When we handed out small gift bags at the end, the children cheered. Even across a language barrier, the words “Jesus loves you” reached their hearts without an interpreter.

When the power goes out, the whole island falls into darkness. One night, with only moonlight and starlight and one guitar, we worshiped and prayed, “Lord, remember this small island,” and the wind of the Spirit bound us and the children together. On the day we left, the children ran down to the dock and waved goodbye.

We left the island carrying that prayer, offered with tears.

Zero Down, and Welcome Guests

Before the spring semester ended, the HisPlan Movement students and I visited Zero Down to serve the children. Each time, fighter-jet noise makes the program difficult, and the children’s circumstances are hard. We gathered the offerings from our Tuesday worship, handed out small gifts, and shared the joy of the gospel through songs and games. It is a small start, but I believe recovery and hope begin the moment the gospel arrives.

On April 1, Pastor Kiju Lee, pastor emeritus of Ulsan Sarang Mission Church, and Pastor Dasol Lee, director of IntoMission, visited our Tuesday worship. They shared a wonderful dinner and a challenging word with the students.

Back to Chuuk in September

In mid-September I will go back to Chuuk with young adults from IntoMission. Just as the apostle Paul carried the gospel one step at a time, I want to walk that road with courage. And Guam’s youth worship will not stop. We are continuing Tuesday worship on campus, and we are praying and preparing for a Guam-wide youth gathering.
