Scripture

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

1 Peter 5:7

Reflection

Prayer can sometimes feel like a performance, something we do carefully, with the right words, in the right posture, hoping we get it right. But the invitation in this verse is far more personal than that. Peter does not say, "Manage your anxiety wisely." He says, "Cast it on Him." The word "cast" implies effort, even urgency, like throwing something heavy off your shoulders onto someone who is strong enough to carry it.

And the reason we can do that is not just because God is powerful. It is because He cares. That word (cares) is deeply personal in the original language. It means He is attentive to you, concerned about your specific situation, not just handling humanity in general. You are not a number in a queue. You are someone He knows and watches over.

So today, don't filter your prayer into something polished. Bring the real weight of what you are carrying, the stress, the uncertainty, the things you are embarrassed to say out loud. He already knows. He is just waiting for you to bring it to Him. That's where real prayer begins.

Prayer

“God, I lay down the weight I have been carrying on my own. I bring You the anxiety, the confusion, the things I have been trying to figure out by myself. Thank You for caring about my specific situation. Help me to trust that You hear me and that Your answer, in Your timing, is better than anything I could arrange on my own.”
