After the flood, people once again turned away from God. Yet God’s promise did not stop. The genealogy from Shem to Abram shows that God’s plan of salvation (promised in Genesis 3:15) was still unfolding. What seems like a long and repetitive list of ordinary names reveals that God was faithfully moving history toward His redemptive purpose.
Who is God?
God is faithful to continue His work of salvation even in the midst of human rebellion. Through an ordinary lineage, God prepared the way for Abraham, David, and ultimately the Messiah. In the same way, God can use our ordinary lives as part of His greater story when we walk in faith and obedience.
What is God teaching me?
Sarah’s barrenness highlights human limitation, but it also became the stage for God’s power. Our limitations and struggles are not the end, they can become opportunities for God to reveal His glory. Do not lose heart. Trust God and continue to walk in faith.

Dear God, help me to offer each day of my life to You and to become part of the story You are writing. Amen.
